Travel itinerary

Day 1

EDINBURGH  Arrive in Edinburgh a city with dramatic skylines and spectacular buildings set among seven hills. Private transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure. We suggest a Scotch Whisky Experience or the world-famous Taste of Scotland show this evening, not included.

Day 2
Breakfast

EDINBURGH   After breakfast, make your way to Waterloo Palace to hop aboard an open-top mini-coach (maximum 16 passengers); travel along Princes Street and past the famous Scott’s Monument; learn about Edinburgh Castle. Hop-off at the Grassmarket, offering a variety of boutiques, traditional Scottish pubs and restaurants. Work your way up the Royal Mile, with a short introduction to the Old Town.  Next, head across the Dean Bridge and into quaint Dean Village.  Pass St. Mary’s Cathedral, one of three cathedrals in Edinburgh. Head down towards the foot of Arthur’s Seat, past the Burns monument to Holyrood Park where the regal Holyrood Palace is loxated. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure.

Day 3
Breakfast

LOCH NESS, GLENCOE & HIGHLANDS    After breakfast at your hotel, make your way to your meeting point to join your small group tour. Pass through magnificent Glencoe, scene of the clan massacre of the MacDonalds by the Campbells in 1692. Then on through Fort William, the beginning of the Great Glen and the Caledonian Canal, which you follow up to Fort Augustus, nestling on the banks of Loch Ness. Here, you can enjoy lunch on your own, a boat trip (subject to availability) or walk along the lochside with spectacular views of the loch. Return south to Edinburgh via Monarch of the Glen country, and Highland Perthshire.

Day 4
Breakfast

EDINBURGH – INVERNESS  After breakfast at your hotel, private transfer to the train station to board your train to Inverness, whose name comes from the Scottish Gaelic Inbhir Nis, meaning the mouth of the River Ness. Upon arrival, take a taxi on your own to your hotel, just a short 5 minute ride away. Settle in and explore Inverness on your own. We suggest a stop at St. Andrews Cathedral, considered to be one of Dr. Alexander Ross’s finest buildings.

Day 5
Breakfast

SKYE & EILEAN DONAN CASTLE   After an early breakfast, travel through the spectacular mountains of Wester Ross towards the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, where you can stop to visit before travelling over the bridge to the Isle of Skye. Head through the mountainous heart of the island, home to the mighty Cuillin mountain range, before arriving in the bustling harbour town of Portree for lunch (not included). In the afternoon, visit the world-famous natural beauty of the Trotternish Peninsula. In the early evening, travel along the shores of Loch Clunie towards the Great Glen before returning to Inverness.

Day 6
Breakfast

INVERNESS – GLASGOW  After breakfast at your hotel, take a taxi on your own to the train station to take you into Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, renowned for its culture, style and the friendliness of its people. Check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of your afternoon at leisure to explore. Two day Hop-on, Hop-Off bus pass included.

Day 7
Breakfast

LOCH LOMOND & DISTILLERY EXPERIENCE Enjoy your morning at leisure. Make your way to your meeting point to begin your afternoon small-group tour. Travel north into the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Stroll along the shores of Loch Lomond in Balloch Country Park or soak up the atmosphere in the bars and restaurants at Loch Lomond Shores. Travel to the foot of the former volcanic plug at Dumgoyne Hill to visit Glengoyne Whisky Distillery and learn how their single malt is produced from water that runs out of the volcanic rock behind the distillery. Return to Glasgow.
