TORONTO — LIMA  Depart from Toronto to Lima; welcome, private transfer and check into your hotel.

LIMA  After breakfast, enjoy a memorable day in the captivating capital of Peru. Lima was founded in 1535 and was once the capital of Spain’s South American Empire for 300 years; it is also known as the City of Kings. Enjoy a private afternoon city tour featuring the Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the 17th-century Baroque Cathedral and Church of San Francisco and the Palacio de Torre Tagle, Lima’s most elegant colonial mansion. Also visit the Larco Herrera Museum. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure.

LIMA – AREQUIPA  Fly to Arequipa, Peru’s second largest city. Arrival, welcome and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a city tour of Arequipa and its famous Santa Catalina Monastery.

AREQUIPA – COLCA CANYON After an early breakfast, begin your trip along Yura’s Highway, bordering the snow-capped Chachani Mountain and drive toward the Pampa Cañahuas habitat of vicuñas. Visit the villages of Callalli and Sibayo with stone buildings built with a mixture of Collagua and Spanish architecture. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and visit the hot springs of La Calera.

COLCA CANYON – LAKE TITICACA  Breakfast. Early morning departure to the Cross of the Condor viewing point to observe one of the deepest canyons in the world and the impressive flight of the Condors. Continue on to Puno, known as the folklore capital of Peru, due to its wealth of artistic and cultural expressions including knitting and textile arts. Here, traits of the Aymaran, Quechan and Spanish cultures merge. Arrive in Puno/Lake Titicaca.

LAKE TITICACA  Travel by speedboat through the deep blue waters of Lake Titicaca, the largest lake in South America. Visit the incredible floating Uros Islands near the Bolivian border which are made and remade from totora reeds. Also witness the interesting and unusual ancestral culture of the Aymara on the island of Taquile, with beautiful views of the snow-capped Andes.

LAKE TITICACA – CUZCO  Early morning breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the bus station for your bus ride to Cuzco. Stop and visit ruins along your journey, then check-in at your hotel in Cuzco; the beautiful city, which was once the capital of the Inca Empire.

CUZCO – MACHU PICCHU TOWN  In the morning, journey by train to the fabled ‘Lost City of the Incas’, arguably the most  important archaeological site in South America. The Machu Picchu Citadel was built by the Incas as a favoured retreat for Inca nobility, and remarkably until 1911, it lay hidden from the world amongst dense jungle covered mountains. Following a guided tour of the ruins, enjoy lunch then check into your hotel.

MACHU PICCHU TOWN – CUZCO  Early morning breakfast. Board your bus to take you back to the top of the mountain and visit the citadel for a second time. After lunch, board the train to Cuzco. Upon arrival, welcome and transfer to your hotel.

CUZCO – LIMA – TORONTO  Breakfast at your hotel. Enjoy a morning excursion including an historic city tour and visit to the sites of Sacsayhuamán, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay located just outside the city. Later in the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima. You will have a hotel room for use at the Wyndham Costa del Sol Lima Airport; your home-bound flight departs later that evening.
